COVID-19 in China - From Chernobyl Moment to Party State Victory?

China was the first country exposed to the peculiarities of COVID-19. In early 2020, the city of Wuhan and the Hubei Province suffered tremendously from the systems initial unpreparedness and involuntarily emerged as a testing ground for measures to contain the pandemic. Since then, the arsenal of measures used to win the peoples war whenever single cases that occur somewhere in China has been refined and applied successfully. This article gives an overview of these at times draconian measures and discusses their social, economic and political impact.
